5Urinary Bladder
The urinary bladder works as a temporary reservoir to store urine before it is expelled from the body. This is a sac-like organ with a lining smooth muscle layer. Depending on the amount of urine received from the ureters and pressure from near parts, the shape and size of each urinary bladder can vary. A mucous membrane is the inner layer of this organ. It enables the bladder to expand when it fills. The next lining is the submucosa. It contains many elastic fibers that can support the mucous membrane. The last part is the muscularis with smooth muscle. [5]
