An athlete’s foot is a fungal infection that often starts between the toes. A type of this condition called vesiculobullous tinea pedis may affect the feet’s inner surfaces and cause blisters. It occurs when excessive moisture in this area leads to an overgrowth of fungus. Blisters caused by the athlete’s foot tend to be small and filled with fluids. If left untreated, they would merge into a larger one. Those who use closed-toe footwear in humid and hot weather conditions tend to be at a higher risk of this condition.
