4Apply Ice
You can also apply ice to the affected area to help relieve swelling and alleviate pain. To avoid frostbite or burns, avoid a direct application to the skin. Instead, cover the ice with a cloth for protection. You can use ice packs around 20 minutes per day. Taking a cold bath with water and ice can also be an alternative. Whenever you feel numbness or coldness, immediately remove the ice pack to prevent skin burns. [4]
