6Compartment Syndrome
Acute compartment syndrome refers to damages to some muscle groups in the legs or arms after a trauma. All long muscles are located in these areas. When an injury disrupts blood circulation, blood might be trapped and increase pressure. As a result, serious damages would happen to the tissues and muscles within the compartment. Common causes of compartment syndrome include burns, a crush injury, a broken bone, or tightened and scarred skin. In addition to upper arm pain, you might experience other symptoms like weakness, numbness, muscle tightness, and burning or tingling sensation. Without proper treatments, these signs could intensify quickly and lead to further complications. [6]
