2Vestibular Neuritis
Vestibular neuritis is caused by an infection in the vestibular nerve. This nerve is responsible for transmitting head position and balance information to the brain from your inner ear. When this area is inflamed or swollen, this process is disrupted. It is quite similar to labyrinthitis but the hearing is not affected. People with this condition often experience vertigo, which would be followed by out of balance, serious nausea, or blurred vision. The risk is not different in all age groups, but vestibular neuritis is quite rare in children. [3]
BPPV
BPPV stands for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. In general, our inner ear contains otolith organs. These components contain particles and fluids of crystals of calcium carbonate. In people with BPPV, these crystals are dislodged and released into the semicircular canals, where they come in contact with sensory hair cells during movement. This results in wrong signals to the brain about your position. Therefore, vertigo would happen, typically no more than one minute. [4]
