The system that sends signals from the eye to the brain is very sensitive for those individuals with vestibular migraine. This can be shown clearly with the high ratio of those people with photophobia. Therefore, a migraine attack may be caused by some visual stimulants, such as:
– High-contrast patterns, such as striped pictures or flashing lights
– Visually cluttered or overwhelmed surroundings, such as grocery stores, public transportation, supermarkets, or crowded streets
– External motion like computer monitors, movies, as well as moving vehicles
Many of these factors have been shown to trigger symptoms of vestibular migraine, such as lightheadedness, vertigo, dizziness, and headache. [8]
