8Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiovascular disease, especially atherosclerosis, can increase blood pressure and make your heart beat faster and work harder. This health condition leads to clogged arteries due to the accumulation of plaque in the blood vessels. High blood cholesterol is known as a major risk factor for atherosclerosis. Clogged arteries cause hypertension or higher blood pressure, which eventually results in higher than usual heart rate. Thus, ask your doctors for some medications or lifestyle changes to maintain stable cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Blood pressure in a healthy adult should be less than 135/80 mmHg, while normal levels of cholesterol should be around 200 mg/dL. [8]
