13 Symptoms & Signs of Bipolar Disorder

6Increased physical activity | Manic

A manic episode such as this provides patients with extremely high levels of energy. Thus, to make this high energy level useful, it’s being converted to physical activity, and they become physically restless.

The patient becomes exceptionally active at school or college, place of work, including their social life. Also, they always keen on ensuring everyone is pleased, even if it has to take the extra hours of work. They tend to invite old and new friends for social gatherings.

Sadly, this incessant bustle does not increase its efficiency. Mania episodes are commonly associated with a lack of focus, concentration, and sufferers have issues with keeping things together.

People with excess energy may find themselves moving restlessly forward and backward. Most times, they move around without aim or seem frenzied. Pulling their hair and hand wringing are usually noticed.

Additionally, the patients seem more interested in outdoor activities and are very frank and friendly than usual. Here’s the worst part: individuals struggling with this mania symptom may partake in activities that are very risky. Just like any of the disorder symptoms, excessive energy may have adverse effects on their conduct while in school/college, work, social, and personal life. However, this changed conduct may be obstructive or favorable based on the severity of mania.
