Symptoms of Noonan Syndrome

2Short Limbs and Height

Regardless of age and ethnicity, people with Noonan syndrome tend to be shorter and smaller than the general public. Also, their fingers might be short. Infants with this disorder are often not smaller than average at delivery, but they may grow slowly during infancy. Thus, a short height might start to become clearer in later stages. This symptom may have many negative effects on their quality of life. [2]

Heart Issues

One of the most common issues associated with Noonan syndrome is pulmonary valve stenosis, a cardiovascular disease. It disrupts the blood circulation between the lungs and the heart, leading to typical signs such as a blue appearance of the fingers or lips, shortness of breath, as well as fatigue. If left untreated, the condition might cause an enlarged heart. This eventually results in more severe heart issues, especially heart failure. There are also other heart issues related to Noonan syndrome, including ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, as well as hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. [3]
