Other common symptoms of esophageal cancer include:
– Excess saliva: A tumor would affect swallowing. Therefore, the body tends to produce more saliva to help food pass through the esophagus easily.
– Nausea or vomiting: When difficulty swallowing occurs, it is hard to pass food through the esophagus. As a result, it would back up undigested and whole. You may feel nauseated and vomit food as well.
– Black stools: Due to bleeding from the tumor, your stools may become black or tarry. The color of the blood turns black when blood from the upper digestive tract and esophagus is exposed to acid in the stomach. [7]
