6Symptoms of a Corneal Ulcer
The cornea is the clear layer of tissue in the front of our eye. It serves as a window that allows light to enter the eyes. Tears can help defend it against fungi, viruses, and bacteria. A corneal ulcer occurs when an open sore develops in this area. An infection is often the main cause. Even erosion due to putting on contact lenses too much or small injuries would result in infections. People with a cornea ulcer may notice one or more of the following signs: swollen eyelids, white spots on the cornea, blurred vision, excessive tearing, sore eye, eye inflammation, sensitivity to light, and eye or pus discharge.
