Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, often known as AIDS, is an STD that occurs in people with HIV. It happens when the virus causes damage and makes the immune system become weaker. While AIDS is the most advanced stage of HIV, having the virus does not necessarily mean you will have AIDS. Dry skin, rash, and other skin issues may be common signs of this disease. It may take up to a decade for HIV to progress to AIDS. When this occurs, the immune system cannot work effectively to prevent injections and foreign invaders, making the patients very susceptible to common health issues. Currently, there is no cure for the disease, but some treatment options can help improve the outlook and life expectancy. [7]
