4Direct Contact with Infected People
The simplest way for staph bacteria to spread and infect other people is through direct skin-to-skin contact. This means you would be infected just by touching somebody in your family who already suffered from the condition. Staph bacteria are extremely resistant and would survive the most extreme environments, even when it is saline, hot, freezing, or cold. Thus, if someone around you has a cold, cough, or is sneezing, make sure to ask him or her to wear a mask. You should also avoid any close physical contact with them. [4]
