5How Long Does Spasticity Last after Stroke?

Previous studies have shown that spasticity typically happens from 3 to 6 weeks after a stroke. The muscular signs of spasticity may persist and increase at 6 months after that. If left unresolved, the condition would cause the affected muscles to contract and shrink permanently as well as lead to locked joints into single positions. There is currently no cure for spasticity after a stroke. However, many lifestyle changes and treatment options may help you manage the symptoms and improve your quality of life. [5]
