Question: Can Shigellosis happen twice?

Answer: Yes. But you may get infected with a different type of bacterium in the Shigella family.

Question: Which foods would lead to Shigella infection?

Answer: Raw foods, such as veggies, fruits, or salads, would have been grown in contaminated soil and spread the bacteria when you eat them. You may also get the infection when consuming any food prepared or cooked by infected people.

Question: What is the outlook for people with shigellosis?

Answer: In most cases, you may feel better in a few days. However, you can still spread the bacteria weeks after a recovery. More serious cases require 3 to 6 weeks to recover. [10]
