5Causes of Dandruff
It is not clear what actually causes dandruff. However, many scientists believe that an overgrowth of Malassezia yeast and excess of oil on the scalp may be the reason. Hormones may play a part as well because the condition seems to be more prevalent in some life periods when the levels of hormones are higher than usual. Other factors may also increase the risk of dandruff, such as a family history of dandruff, too little or too much shampooing, the use of harsh cosmetic or hair products, as well as dry and cold weather.
