Rheumatoid nodules tend to develop in pressure points where pressure is put on the surface of the body. These include knuckles, fingers, bony outer areas of the elbows, and backs of the heels. If your movement is restricted and you have to stay in bed for an extended period, it may lead to the growth of nodules in the back of your head, base of your spine, legs or hips.
