3Lung Conditions Associated with Psoriasis
Psoriasis may be associated with any of the following lung conditions:
– Sarcoidosis: This inflammatory condition would lead to small clumps in the skin and lungs.
– Asthma: Inflammation in the lungs would block or narrow the airways and cause asthma. The risk of asthma can be especially high in people with psoriasis when they are over 50 years old.
– Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: This is a group of conditions that block airflow in the lungs, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Psoriasis may increase the risk of this disease.
– Interstitial lung disease: This includes pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial pneumonia.
– Lung cancer: Psoriasis is linked to some risk factors for lung cancer, such as alcohol consumption and smoking. [4]
