Muscle pain is another common sign of polymyalgia rheumatica. It often starts with achy discomfort in the shoulders, then gradually spreads to other parts like thighs, hips, buttocks, upper arms, and neck. In worse cases, knees and wrists can even be affected. The sensation can be mild or severe, depending on the stages and underlying cause. In most cases, polymyalgia rheumatica often develops slowly, even though some people would experience the pain very quickly in a few days. The pain caused by this condition makes it harder to get dressed, walk around, and do some other tasks. [2]
