The risk for having both PCOS and IBS are much higher in women than in men. While the exact causes are still not full clear, scientists think that it may be linked to certain factors. These include:

– Sex hormones: Two sex hormones in women, including progesterone and estrogen,

– Stress: Sex hormones in women may make them more prone to stress. This would result in symptoms of IBS. People with PCSO may also have higher levels of stress.

– Pain perception: Sex hormones may also increase women’s perception to pain. Therefore, they may be more susceptible to discomfort and abdominal cramps caused by bowel problems. [3]
