Myoclonic seizures tend to be brief and do not involve a loss of consciousness. When they happen, people should not move. Other people around may help them by stop any involuntary movements. Seek medical attention immediately when they:
– Lose consciousness
– Have a seizure that persists more than 5 minutes
– Have a seizure for the first time
– Are pregnant
– Experience persistent agitation and confusion after a seizure
– Experience recurring seizures in a brief period of time
– Injure themselves
– Have trouble breathing
– Have a chronic disease, such as heart disease or diabetes [9]
