8Minimal Residual Disease
People with multiple myeloma would respond differently to the same treatment. Minimal residual disease or MRD is the number of unhealthy cancerous cells that remain after therapy. Over time, those elements would divide and grow again, thus leading to relapsed myeloma. By determining MRD, your doctor would figure out the effectiveness of the current treatment. If you have a complete response, then the survival rate seems to be higher. However, this is still a new area that needs more research and studies. [8]
