These days, many hospitals utilize whole body imaging to diagnose multiple myeloma. Among these, PET or positron emission tomography is one of the most common techniques. During this process, a type of radioactive sugar called FDG will be injected into your blood. If there are any cancerous cells in the body, they will absorb this substance and create a clear image around the affected areas. Though the pictures are not so detailed like an MRI or CT scan, it would help your doctor examine the whole body.
