7Occupational Exposure
Those people who work in some occupations are at higher risk of developing multiple myeloma than others. These include petroleum, rubber, cosmetology, leather, and chemical plants. The same goes for those workers who have to expose themselves more often to wood products like carpenters, papermakers, and furniture. The mechanism is quite similar to chemical exposure as these components would lead to an unexpected growth of plasma cells and cause multiple myeloma. [7]
