Mermaid Syndrome – Symptoms, Causes, Risk Factors, Treatment and More

5How to Diagnose Mermaid Syndrome

Mermaid syndrome is typically diagnosed by doctors during pregnancy. They would do an ultrasound to examine the fetus. During this procedure, any abnormalities and symptoms linked to the disorder, particularly the partial or complete fusion of lower limbs, can be detected. Further testing may be necessary to confirm the results. Previous studies have suggested that a diagnosis of mermaid syndrome can be made as early as 13 weeks of pregnancy. Once a doctor determines all the abnormalities that happen with mermaid syndrome, they will inform the parents and discuss the possible treatment options and long-term outlook. [5]
