2Stages of Lung Cancer
Lung cancer can be categorized into two main types: small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. Each form is staged differently.
There are two stages of small cell lung cancer, including:
– Limited stages: Cancer cells only exist in one lung and might have spread to lymph nodes by the mediastinum and collarbone.
– Extensive stage: Cancer cells have spread to the other lungs and other internal organs in the body.
There are five stages of non-small cell lung cancer. These include:
– Stage 0: Cancer cells have not spreads. They are only in the top lining of bronchus and the lung.
– Stage 1: Tumors are only in one lungs. They are small and have not spread.
– Stage 2: Tumors may have spread to close lymph nodes.
– Stage 3: Tumors exist in the chest’s lymph nodes and lungs
– Stage 4: Cancer cells have spread to other parts of the body [2]
