7Luminal B Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Certain imaging techniques, such as mammograms, may help determine the likelihood of breast cancer. Your doctor can do a biopsy by taking a sample of the breast tissue, which will be examined in the lab for several receptors that would lead to the growth of cancerous cell in the breast. The results can indicate:
– HER2 status: A result of 0 or 1+ means HER2-negative; a result of 3+ means HER2-positive, and a result of 2+ is unclear
– HR status: Cells with progesterone or estrogen receptors are HR-positive
– Ki-67 levels: This protein plays a role in the growth and multiplication of cancerous cells. A high level indicates a more aggressive form of cancer [8]
