64 Causes of Long QTSyndrome
Genetics
Long QT syndrome is often caused by a defective gene that is inherited from parents. This abnormal gene can affect the proteins which make up your iron channels controlling electrical signals in your heart. These iron channels might not work well as usual or there might be no enough iron channels, thus disrupting electrical activities of the heart. Typically, there are up to 7 kinds of inherited long QT syndrome, which are numbered from 1 to 7. Studies have identified that there are more than 15 forms of genetic mutations which would result in this condition. [6]
