6Medication Side Effects
Certain medications would cause indigestion symptoms as their side effects. A common cause is the prolonged and excessive use of NSAIDs or steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin. People with peptic ulcers are especially prone to indigestion when they take these medications. In these cases, ask your doctor for other alternatives, such as COX-2 inhibitor, acetaminophen, or paracetamol. Taking oral contraceptives, codeine, cholesterol medications, blood pressure drugs, thyroid medications, antibiotics, steroids, and estrogen would also contribute to this digestive issue. A tip to reduce medication side effects is to take them when your stomach is full. [6]
