15Intravenous (IV) Fluids
In hypercalcemia, the levels of calcium in the blood are higher than needed. A solution to this problem is to dilute the minerals with intravenous fluids. Your doctor might inject IV fluids with isotonic saline to help prevent water and salt loss. This will lead to a reduction in the concentration of calcium in your body. The whole process can be done in 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your condition. In some cases, additional substances might be added to help you alleviate other associated symptoms.
