2Physical Exam
There is no screening plan that can reduce mortality for ovarian cancer. However, a regular pelvic exam can be done by a physician to identify a growth in the ovary area, also known as an adnexal mass. Nevertheless, this test may have certain limitations:
– It would miss small growths in the ovaries, even in thin females
– The exam is done manually with one hand on the abdomen and the other in the vagina. Because the physician only feels for the ovary under fatty issues, it is less precise in finding a tumor in obese or overweight women. [2]
