7Confirm the Fibromyalgia Diagnosis
If your doctor cannot find any conditions that explain the symptoms, they may look at the combine scores of the widespread pain index and symptom severity scale. A diagnosis is given if you meet one of the following two criteria:
– A widespread pain index score of 7 or more and a symptom severity scale score of 5 or more
– A widespread pain index score between 3 and 6 and a symptom severity scale score of 9 or more
After that, if your doctor would find out that the symptoms have been occurring over the last 3 months, an official diagnosis would be given. [7]
