The widespread pain index divides the body into 19 parts, each of which is regarded as a characteristic section of involvement. These include neck, left jaw, right jaw, left shoulder girdle, right shoulder girdle, left upper arm, right upper arm, left lower arm, right lower arm, lower back, upper back, abdomen, chest, left lower leg, right lower leg, left upper leg, right upper leg, left hip and buttock, right hip and buttock. Your doctor will ask whether you had pain in each section in the last week. If you answer “yes”, you will get 1 score. The maximum score for the widespread pain index is 19. [5]
