6Treatment for Erythema Nodosum
In most cases, erythema nodosum resolves on its own. Therefore, there is typically no specific treatment for these lesions on the skin. Most treatments are often used only to manage the pain in your joints or affected areas. These may include rest, leg elevation, and cold compresses. Reducing physical activities is important to give the lesions enough time to heal properly. You can also take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs to alleviate pain, but they should be taken with caution in those with IBD. In chronic or severe cases, your doctor may prescribe antithyroid agents, potassium iodide, or steroids. [7]
