4Folliculitis
Folliculitis is an infectious disease that causes inflammation of the hair follicles. This leads to white bumps on the skin, which may be painful and itchy. The condition is often triggered by bacteria, but a virus or fungi may be the cause as well. Depending on the cause, other signs would show up, such as plaques, papules, itching, or pustules. People with acute myeloid leukemia are more prone to folliculitis as their bodies do not produce sufficient white blood cells to fight infections. Commonly affected areas include the shoulders, neck, face, and scalp. [5]
