7Differences in Treatment Options
Treatment Options for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Depending on the stage of the illness, there are many treatment options for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The main approaches include radiation therapy and chemotherapy. In radiation therapy, high-energy beams of radiation are used to kill cancer cells. In chemotherapy, some drugs are injected or taken orally for this purpose. In early stages, only radiation therapy may be enough to treat this form of lymphoma. However, targeted therapeutic medications are needed in more advanced stages. If these two options do not work, your doctor may suggest a stem cell transplant or immunotherapy. After treatment, follow-up sessions are necessary to help your doctor assess how the condition progresses and whether treatments are working. [9]
