There is a direct association between HSV-2 and HIV. HSV-2 infection would increase the risk of contracting HIV. In addition, people with both conditions are more likely to transmit viruses to other people. It is estimated that most people with HIV also suffer from HSV-2. In these cases, there might be some severe complications, including retinal necrosis, pneumonitis, hepatitis, esophagitis, or meningoencephalitis. Many patients can also suffer from mental issues due to the effects of HSV-2. The condition would interrupt their daily lives and reduce the overall quality of life. [9]
