5Hemorrhoids Complications
Hemorrhoids have few complications. Thrombosed hemorrhoids are one of hemorrhoids complications when blood clots appear inside a hemorrhoidal vein. Large blood clots might cause pain, and surgical removals would be necessary in some cases. Another complication is called strangulated hemorrhoid. Doctors often refer to it as prolapsed internal hemorrhoid trapped by anal muscles. The blood flow to the hemorrhoid is blocked since the anal sphincter constricts. People having strangulated hemorrhoids often experience extreme pain. Anemia is a rare complication found in people with hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoidal bleeding causes chronic blood loss, and anemia happens consequently. [5]
