6Liver Issues
As said above, excess iron caused by hemochromatosis would build up in many important organs, particularly the liver. In an extended period, the stored iron might lead to severe damages in this area. Since the liver is one of the most essential parts of the body, this can lead to many serious health conditions. In fact, many people with hemochromatosis have cirrhosis, which is the permanent scarring of the liver. In the long run, it would increase the risk of developing liver cancer and many other related conditions. [6]
