7Immunotherapy
If you experience severe symptoms of hay fever, your doctor might suggest immunotherapy. It can be combined with other medications to help manage the symptoms. During this treatment, medications are injected into the body to reduce the response of the immune system to specific allergens. Immunotherapy is a long-term treatment for fever hay. It typically starts with a buildup phase in which you get 1 to 3 shots a week in 3 to 6 months to allow the body to get used to allergens in the medications. In the next phase, known as the maintenance phase, 1 shot is given every 2 to 4 weeks in 3 to 5 years. During this period, symptoms of hay fever may start to disappear or subside gradually.
