9Pseudogout
As the name implies, pseudogout is a gout-like disease. It occurs when calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate crystals are build up in joint cartilage. These crystals are comprised of pyrophosphate, a chemical that the body naturally produces. Some people with this condition may have no symptoms and signs, while others do. Typical symptoms include reduced mobility, redness, and pain in affected parts. The main difference between pseudogout and gout is the area where the condition starts. Pseudogout tends to begin in large joints like shoulders or knees. It can be chronic or resolve quickly on its own. [9]
