8At-Home Exposure Therapy
In general, it is recommended to do exposure therapy under the supervision of a psychiatrist or therapist. Previous studies have shown that supervised sessions were more effective than self-done treatment for anxiety disorders. Even worse, some people may be at risk of further fear or trauma when they are exposed to the triggers in the wrong way. People with serious conditions, especially PTSD, should avoid at-home exposure therapy. However, it is possible to incorporate certain parts of this treatment into daily life to overcome mild fear.
