9Deep Brain Stimulation
In deep brain stimulation, electrodes are positioned in a particular brain area, usually the thalamus. They are attached to a device implanted under the chest’s skin to deliver electrical impulses to the brain. The main goal is to stop or reduce the frequency of seizures. The FDA has approved this technique for people with focal epilepsy that cannot be controlled after trying more than 3 drugs. Carefully supervision is needed to prevent some possible side effects.
