8Ecchymosis Prognosis
In most cases, the prognosis for people with ecchymosis is often very good. It tends to be minor and disappear quite quickly in healthy people. Once your healthcare provider finds out the underlying cause of the condition, he or she might suggest a few measures to help prevent it from recurring in the future. If you still notice new signs of ecchymosis even after being treated already, make sure to contact your healthcare provider. Similarly, inform your doctor when the bruises grow in size or do not progress after two weeks.
Symptoms of ecchymosis are often minor and do not cause too much swelling or pain. However, most people with minor ecchymosis might cope with possible temporary cosmetic changes because of bruises and discolored skin. These bruises often disappear once the ecchymosis is entirely healed and the blood is redistributed underneath the skin. It often takes about 2 weeks for this healing process. [8]
