Down Syndrome – Things You Need to Know – Facts, Causes & Symptoms

2What are the Causes for Down Syndrome?

Abnormalities in chromosomes combination

From the onset, it is normal for a human to be made up of 23 pairs of chromosomes of which it is generally referred to as autosomes in the scientific world, and when they are two sex chromosomes, it is referred to as allosomes. Therefore, when two people mate together, a new cell is formed when two autosomes join together. The cell comprises one copy of chromosomes from sperm and one copy also from the mother’s egg as well. By coming together, the new egg then undergoes cell division of which later result to the formation of an embryo and ultimately a fetus and new human. Each cell then possesses the same genetic material as the original 46 chromosomes, with the same genes as well coupled with DNA materials too.

In respect to the above subject, that is what the normal chromosomes and genes ought to be in the real sense. But in the case of Down syndrome, there is an error that usually takes place when it comes to the coming together of the chromosome 21, and we can denote that it is the extra genetic material is responsible for the inefficient of the 46 chromosomes plus the additional two cell chromosomes.
