6When to See a Doctor
If you find it harder to breathe through the nose than normal, particularly when you do not have any allergy or a cold, it is better to visit your healthcare provider. Also, notice other symptoms above, such as a loss of smell and taste, blocked nose, or postnasal drip, and seek medical attention as soon as possible. Otherwise, these growths would become larger over time and trigger more serious complications. In the hospital or clinic, your doctor needs to look inside the nose or do a nasal endoscopy to examine the polyps thoroughly. When the symptoms become more severe, a CT scan of the sinuses or nasal passages might be necessary to find out whether polyps have broken down into the bone in the sinuses. [6]
