5Causes of Cholera
Contaminated Water and Food
Cholera can be spread through the oral-fecal route, which means drinking water or eating food that has been already contaminated with the bacteria. Indeed, this makes it one of the most contagious health issues in the world. The risks of contaminated drinking water are particularly high in many developing regions without the infrastructure to clean and filter the water. Since Vibrio Cholera is typically extremely infectious and many people don’t show any signs, the bacterium could spread wide and far before the authorities are alerted. Also, bacteria would penetrate foods through unclean hands and spread the disease to other people in the community. [5]
