4Possible Complications
A prolapsed uterus might increase the risk of prolapse of other organs in the pelvic area. These include:
– Rectocele or posterior vaginal prolapse: When the connective tissue that separates the vagina and rectum becomes weak, the rectum might bulge into your vagina. This could lead to a few problems with bowel movements.
– Cystocele or anterior prolapse: When the connective tissue that separates the vagina and bladder becomes weak, the bladder might bulge into your vagina.
In more severe cases, a prolapsed uterus might displace part of your vaginal lining. This causes the organ to protrude out of the body. Vagina tissues rubbing against clothing may result in ulcers or sores. In some rare cases, the sores may become infected. [6]
