7Other Possible Causes of a Breast Lump
In addition to cancer, a breast lump may be caused by one of the following conditions:
– Fibroadenomas: They are benign breast masses that are smooth and movable under the skin if touched. They may grow bigger over time. Some factors are linked to fibroadenomas, such as menstruation, hormone therapy, or pregnancy.
– Breast cysts: These breast lumps are firm, smooth, and round. The condition occurs when a dilated milk duct is filled with fluid. Breast cysts can be small or large with tender breast tissue.
– An injury to the surrounding nerves or the breast tissue
– An injection in the breast tissue may cause inflammation and breast pain, which would lead to a breast lump
– Fibrocystic breast changes [7]
