8Heat Therapy
Heat therapy or hyperthermia can be an alternative to surgery. During this procedure, a thin and flexible tool is inserted into the urethra to transmit heat to the prostate. It can use electro-vaporization, laser, or microwave technology to reduce the size of the gland. Because this is an invasive treatment, it should only be suggested when medication treatments do not work. You will need local anesthesia to reduce discomfort. It might take a couple of days to recover after the procedure. You can also perform heat therapy at home by putting a hot-water bottle or heating pad on the affected area to reduce pain or inflammation and improve blood flow. [8]
